1960 - in the Pavlodar industrial institute the section on freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling was founded by L. Uteshev

1970 - the PII athletics team took the fourth place in the All-Kazakhstan student games.

1971 - Zemtsov A. – is a prize-winner of Kazakhstan championship in athletics ; Shadrin Yu. - Candidate in masters of sport in athletics.

1973 – women’s basketball team in the four strongest in the championship of Kazakhstan.

1975 - women's basketball team took the 4th place at the XIV All-Kazakhstan Spartakiad.

1977 - women's basketball team –is a bronze medalist of Kazakhstan championship.

1978 - women's volleyball team – is a bronze medalist of Kazakhstan championship.

1982 - women's basketball team - is the leader of the university teams of Kazakhstan.

1984 - Kruglyakov V., Kenzhegaliyev N. - Masters of sport of the USSR, freestyle wrestling champions of KazSSR; Prize winners of the Universiade of the USSR.

1990 - Kenzhegaliyev Zh. - MSU Masters of sport of the USSR, champion of Kazakhstan.

1996 - the team of S. Toraighyrov PSU in freestyle wrestling –is a champion of the Universiade of universities of Kazakhstan; Students-sportsmen of S. Toraighyrov PSU participate in the World Championship among universities (Iran) in freestyle wrestling.

2001 - Spartakiad among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S. Toraighyrov PSU - 3 place; Women’s basketball team is a bronze medalist at 1 Universiade of the RK; Sadyrbaev K. - Master of Sport of International Class, champion of Asia, world champion in kickboxing.

2002 - Sadyrbayev K. - Asian champion, world champion.

2003 - the team of . S. Toraighyrov PSU took part in the II-nd Summer Universiade of students of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 14 kinds of sport; In the overall ranking took the third place team-wide 64 universities of the country.

Creation and participation of five teams of S. Toraighyrov PSU in the higher league of the Championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

1. volleyball (women)

2. volleyball (men)

3. basketball (men)

4. rugby (men)

5. table tennis (men)

Holding the annual complex Spartakiad in kinds of sport S. Toraighyrov PSU among students (14 kinds of sport) and among staff and employees (9 sports).

2004 - participation of the team of students of S. Toraighyrov PSU in table tennis World Championships in Györ (Hungary) - the 9th team place.

Summer Olympic Games in Athens. Four athletes - a student of S. Toraighyrov PSU (Yuda, Khudiev R., Medyannikov N., Iglinsky A.) are members of the national team of Kazakhstan.

2005 – Team of S. Toraighyrov PSU participates in 21 sports within the program of the 3rd Summer Universiade of students of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2007 – Team of S. Toraighyrov PSU participates in 18 kinds of sports within the program of the IVth Summer Universiade of students of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the complex ranking took the 6th team place.

2008 - II winter Universiade of the RK, teams of S. Toraighyrov PSU: champions of the Universiade in the winter Presidential all-around and III place in cross-country skiing.

The competitions were well organized and held according to the schedule. No injury occurred. Emotions at the competitions were running high. The athletic performance of participants was strong. A great number of the University’s teaching staff members and employees took part in the competitions.

The judges, participants and spectators were kept in suspense throughout the competitions.

According to the results of the competitions the team of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology took first team place (Dean of the Faculty: N. Ispulov); the team of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology achieved second place (the Faculty’s Dean: T. K. Bekseitov); the Faculty of Energy Engineering was awarded third place (the Faculty’s Dean: A. P. Kislov).

Winners and prize-winners of the competitions were awarded diplomas, money prizes and a challenge cup.

Sport news for March-April-May 2017
on March 20, 2017, near the main educational building of the S. Toraighyrov PSU the celebration of "Nauryz Meiramy" was held, where the sports club "Sunkar" conducted competitions in " Kettle ball" and "Tug of war". Winners and prize-winners received memorable prizes.
In April 2017 competitions and relay between the faculties among the "Serpin" were held at S. Toraighyrov PSU:
Competitions among the faculties of University in Table Tennis, dedicated to the Victory Day took place at PSU:

The XXVII World Winter Universiade was held for the first time in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The competition gathered a record number of participants.
The team of Kazakhstan at the winter Universiade performed worthily in all forms and took the II team place. This is the merit of the fans, who supported their countrymen.

S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University at the Universiade by the decision of the rector was represented by teachers and students in the number of 11 people, the participants attended all the competitions that took place at the magnificent sports constructions of Almaty, Chimbulak, Medeo, Soldatskoe Gorge, Halyk Arena, Almaty arena, complex of springboards "Sunkar", we will never forget it.

At the university the "Densaulyk zor bailyk" sports contest among teachers and staff of the university was held from January 09 to January 28, 2017

Competitions were held according to schedule, organized, without injury, at a high emotional and athletic level, with a large coverage of PSU staff.

Until the last moment all the competitions kept the judges, participants and spectators in suspense.

The competitions were held according to the schedule and were well organized. No injuries occurred during the sporting events. Teaching staff members and employees were actively involved in the competitions.

The competitions were tough and kept the judges, participants and audience on the edge of their seats right through to the end.

According to the competition’s results, the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology won 1st place (Dean of the Faculty: N. A. Ispulov); the Faculty of Architecture and Construction took 2nd place (Dean of the Faculty: M. K. Kuderin) and the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport was awarded the 3rd place prize (Dean of the Faculty: T. T. Toktaganov).

7th Summer Universiade for HEI Students of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2015
In 2015, S. Toraighyrov PSU students took part in the 7th Summer Universiade for HEI Students of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The team, coaches and the Sunkar sports club would like to thank our University's Rector, Aryn Orsariyev, for his support and permission to participate in the Universiade.

The team representing Pavlodar State University showed the following results:

1. Badminton (men and women) - 5th place in team standings.

2. Table tennis (women) - 4th place, (men) - 8th place.

3. Togyzkumalak (men) - 2nd place, (women) - 4th place. In the individual men's competition, Baurzhan Ablaykhanov from Kt-201 took the 1st place; Bakhtiyar Bayzhanov from MT-201 took the 2nd place. In the women's competition, Madina Karakulova from B-401 took the first place.
4. Chess (men, women) - 2nd place in team standings.
5. Boxing, men's competition, was held in Almaty from June 27 to July 3, 2015. The PSU team finished 9th. Daulet Kosay took the 3rd place in the men's 49kg category.
6. Kickboxing, men's competition, was held in Astana, and our team took the 2nd place.

7. Freestyle wrestling, men's competition, Abil Usin took the 3rd place in Astana.

44th Pavlodar Spartakiad

In the Program of the 44th Spartakiad of Pavlodar among sports clubs of higher educational institutions for 2014-2015 academic year S. Toraighyrov PSU took the 1 team place. Participated in 11 sports, students took six I places and five II places. This is a great success of coaches, students and sports club "Sunkar".

15th Regional Summer Spartakiad for Specialists in Education and Sciences dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

In Pavlodar on May 2-3, 2015, the 15th regional Spartakiad of education and science workers was held, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. Teachers and staff of S. Toraighyrov PSU took part in the following sports: volleyball, togyzkumalak, chess, table tennis, shooting sports among men and women.

Teachers - Sultan Toleshevich Temirgaliyev -2 place in table tennis;

- Olga Alekseyevna Zakharova 2 place in chess;

- Nina Mikhailovna Roeva-3rd place in shooting sports;

Sunkar held a competitions in sport fishing between the faculty and staff of S. Toraighyrov PSU (March 14, 2015)

Competitions were held in the Chernoyarka village with the coverage of 18 employees and teachers. The fishermen were brought and taken away by the university bus. Fishing was excellent in warm plus weather with a good bite.

All the fishermen were satisfied, there were many jokes and wishes to make the competition annual.

The teams of S. Toraighyrov PSU r performed in 10 kinds of sports, competitions, were held from October 17 to October 21 on the basis of PSU, PSPI and on the city venues Within 5 days, medals were played in such sports as: tennis; volleyball( men, women.); arena football (men); chess (men, women); basketball (men, women); arm-wrestling (men); table tennis (men, women); football (men); Togyzkumalak (men, women); Kazaksha kures (men, women).

Sportsmen of PSU won in such disciplines as: table tennis (women.); arm-wrestling (men); basketball (men.); volleyball (women); chess (men, women.). II place - silver medals of the regional Universiade, won: a team on Togyzkumalak, table tennis (men), kazaksha kures (men); III place - bronze medals, won teams in arena-football (men), volleyball (men), basketball (women), football (men).

In the complex ranking, the combined teams of PSU won the II team place, losing by a small advantage to the PSPI team. The teams of PSU were awarded with the Cup for the II place in the team rankikng, medals and diplomas.

Achievements of previous years

Chess is one of the most developed sports in our region. One of the strongest chess players of the country and the leader of Pavlodar chess is the fourth-year student of the Financial and economic faculty of S. Toraighyrov PSU Rinat Zhumabayev.

The level of physical culture of students is particularly important, as it not only significantly affects the degree of mastering the university program, but largely determines the future attitude of society to the physical culture itself, to people's choice of a way of life, as the content and progressiveness of upbringing, the need for physical perfection and a healthy way of life for the whole society in a greater degree depends on the intellectuals, specialists, leaders.

In the conditions of reforming the education system, globalizing the problems of survival in the environment, the vital task is the education and formation of a healthy, trained, enduring, capable young specialist consciously oriented toward a healthy lifestyle that effectively implements the National Strategy "Kazakhstan-2030".

The sports club of S. Toraighyrov PSU has been created, which unites students, faculty and staff of institutes.

By the order of the rector of the University annually the plan of sports events for the academic year is approved. The plan reflects the provisions and deadlines for holding a student Spartakiad in the sports, traditional sports and mass sports and health-improving events dedicated to the

• student self-governance;

• the international festival "Ertys zhuldyzdary";

• significant dates.

Sports-mass activities among students are held in accordance with the calendar plan, which reflects all sports cultivated at the university, a total of 53 events.

In sports sections in 25 kinds of sports 1546 people are engaged, sports and health and physical training activities covered 5853 students.

The work on the promotion and conduct of training and competitions in national sports is activated.

There are sections on kinds of sport : Togyz-Kumalak and Kazaksha-kures, for the last two years, the Master of sports of the International class and 4 masters of sport in Togyz-Kumalak were trained, and 6 candidates for the master of sports in the Kazaksha-kures.

During this period, the university trains: 8 masters of sports of the International class, the International Master of FIDE, 48 masters of sports, 115 candidates for the master of sports.

There are 5 teams participating in the Championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the highest league: women's volleyball; men's basketball; rugby men; table tennis men, togyz-kumalak.

Attention is paid to the organization of the educational process of students studying at the university, members of national teams of the Republic of Kazakhstan: training on individual curricula; appointment of grants at S. Toraighyrov PSU for studying at the university; discounts on tuition fees.

The combined team of S. Toraighyrov PSU in table tennis took part in the XV World Championship among students in Hungary - 9th place, 36 teams participated.

The University is proud of the athletic achievements of its pupils, university students are members of the city and regional teams and the country represents our university at the highest level competitions.

Sportsmen participating in competitions of the national and international level have prepared the coaching staff of the Department of Physical Education of the University and the leading trainers in sports, sports club "Sunkar", working with the teams of the university.

Kapayev D.I. - "the best coach of the year of the Republic of Kazakhstan" in 2006 and 2008, the coach of Pavlodar State University in Togyz-Kumalak, brought up the master of sports of the International class and 7 masters of sports.

29 students of the university became champions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, won 34 championship titles.

Fourteen students of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University became silver medalists in the championships and competitions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in sports.

The third place in the championships and competitions of the Republic of Kazakhstan won 19 sportsmen of the university. Silver medalists of world championships: in boxing -student of Biology and Chemistry Faculty of BE-23 group, Smazulov Azamat is a student of History and Law Faculty of BL-32 group, in kickboxing. The champion of Asia in Jiu-Jitsu was the student of the Finance and Economics Faculty of the BF-21 group Seylekhanov Sayan. At the Asian Championships, silver medalists were: 7 athletes Arynov Dauren - Faculty of Foreign Languages - jiu-jitsu, Zhumabaev Rinat - Financial and Economic Faculty - chess, Arefina Natalia - Faculty of Foreign Languages, Baydusenova Zhuldyz, Kurazova Zalina - architecture and construction faculty - basketball. Efimova Alexandra and Goncharova Julia, students of the Biology and Chemistry Faculty won silver medals in handball at the Asian Games. Zhumabaev Rinat, a student of the Financial and Economic Faculty, was awarded the title of International Master of FIDE (International Chess Federation), Tashimova Nadiya, a student of the History and Law Faculty, was awarded the FIDE Master in Chess.

In the list of national sport teams there are 22 students of S. Toraighyrov PSU. Among them the most outstanding successes were achieved by students: Khudiyev Rustam and Sklyar Alexanderm students of the financial and economic faculty at the Asian Championships in the 2nd and 3rd gold medals, respectively.

At the Asian Games in November 2007, Khudiev R. won 4 silver and Sklar A. won 1 gold and 3 silver medals. Both of them are participants of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
