Implementing the State Program of Development and Functioning of Languages of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020 within the framework of the project “The future of Kazakhstan lies in the Kazakh language”, the Committee of Languages Development and Social and Political Work of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan has arranged a number of events for the Russian-speaking population of Pavlodar oblast on promotion of the state language.
A roundtable on the theme “The future of Kazakhstan lies in the Kazakh language” was held at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University oriented toward the Russian-speaking audience of the University and organized by the Multilingual Education Center of PSU.
Dosmakhambet Kalmakhanuly Koshim, a social activist, the member of the Science Expert Board of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, Aydos Sarym, a political scientist, Kabzhan Shormanuly Yedilbay, the head of the Pavlodar Oblast Languages Development Department, Arman Baktanuly Kani, the director of the Pavlodar affiliate of the community of Kazakhstan’s writers, the editor of the “Yertys didary” newspaper, students and the teaching staff of S. Toraighyrov PSU took part in the meeting.
A fair of print media issued under the State Program of Development and Functioning of Languages in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020 was held for the guests at the University.
External experts have agreed that apart from ethnical origin every citizen of Kazakhstan may gain significant competitive advantage by being all-round personality.
In the opinion of Aydos Sarym, multi-vector nature and professional integrity in various spheres are specified by the present-day challenges. “The more skills and options you have the more in-demand you are,” said the political scientist.
Experts have paid special attention to the fact that studying the Kazakh language may help native Russian speakers be more deeply integrated into the Kazakh society, gain a competitive advantage in terms of getting a job and succeed at work.
Having reviewed the message of President N. Nazarbayev on trilingualism, experts have concurred with the view that knowing the three languages is the vital minimum for each citizen of Kazakhstan, who is aimed at succeeding in his or her life and in a professional field.
