Seminars on methods and methodology of research for first year postgraduate students, majoring in engineering, the humanities and natural sciences, have been held by the Department of Science and Innovations at the University. The lecturers of the seminar were highly qualified teachers entitled to carry out academic advising, i.e. Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences Sh. M. Zhumadina, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences M. Zh. Kozhamzharova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences A. V. Bogomolov.
Tasks and approaches to the formation of competences required for research activity, such as the ability of generalization, critical assessment of results, which were obtained by domestic and foreign researchers, revealing perspective directions, drawing up a program of research, substantiation of the urgency, theoretical and practical relevance of a thesis, carrying out self-sufficient research in accordance with an elaborate plan of research work and presentation of research results in the form of a publication or a report to the scientific community, were examined in the course of the seminar.
The participants of the seminar expressed great interest in the discussed issues, they marked their urgency and usefulness for mastering modern methods of writing a dissertation.
During the seminar some explanations were given for the originality of a thesis, the direction on the real research work was selected. Besides this, master’s students asked questions regarding thesis research and were given full and complete answers to them.
“The seminar came in very handy. Professor A. V. Bogomolov, being a good professional, gave us targeted advice on methods of research in engineering. The lecture helped me clarify some general issues concerning writing a dissertation. The seminar was vivid and interesting”, said the Master’s student of the Faculty of Energy Engineering, Askar Akhmetshaikhov.
“The seminar was quite useful for forming an idea of specificity of thesis research. I will certainly apply the gained knowledge in my work, as it will help me reduce time expenditures”, said Zhazubay Aykanat, the Master’s student of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences.
