The Yertis Science and Technology Park of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University successfully puts results of research carried out by PSU students and lecturers into practice.
The Yertis Science and Technology Park was established in 2005. Its main objective is to support innovation, ensure effective implementation of research results, promote establishment of new innovation-oriented companies, help in finding investment for research activities, and contribute to mutually beneficial cooperation between PSU and companies of the real sector of the economy.
According to the Director of the Yertis Science and Technology Park, Ruslan Mukanov, they have already carried out a number of activities in the 2015-2016 academic year. Work on 12 research projects performed under the Zhas Ghalym project has been successfully finished. Total amount of funding is KZT 2.4 million. Research was conducted in the field of agricultural engineering, modern education tools, biology, construction and economy.
One of the most successful projects was performed by students of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, who developed a design of a modular disc harrow. “The peculiarity of the harrow is the possibility of varying the working length to adapt to the specific conditions of use and aggregation with different tractors,” says Ruslan Mukanov.
The Director of DAMAK Pavlodar Mechanical Plant LLP, Salauat Zhumadilov, praised the students' work. He noted that the project can be used instead of expensive imported agricultural machinery. “Farmers in our region and beyond will benefit from using the unit,” he said.
Yertis also holds workshops on commercialization of projects for young researchers and their scientific supervisors. Some of the projects performed in the Yertis Science and Technology Park were presented at ENACTUS KAZAKHSTAN EXPO 2015, where the team representing PSU finished second. The Enactus PSU team is always ready to share its experience with students. Enactus PSU and Yertis held several joint events aimed at developing partnership between business and education. There was a business forum, Business and Education, where young people learned how they can start and manage their own business. Besides, the FoodGo company was established to inform about business opportunities for beginners. Yertis also assisted in the development of Mir Stankov LLP.
Projects performed at Yertis are widely used in production. PSU Professors A.P. Kislov and A.N. Novozhilov are now working in close cooperation with Sharbakty-kus LLP to solve a number of technological problems.
The Yertis Science and Technology Park is making a valuable contribution to the development of integration between science and economy and promotion of innovation in our region.
