A regional forum devoted to formation of the regional network of “green” growth points was held by Nur Otan NDP on September 27, 2013.
The primary purpose of this event is explanation of the Concept of Transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan to a Green Economy.
The Forum was attended by the RK Mazhilis deputies, representatives of ministries and departments, local executive bodies, businesses, domestic experts and scientists of S. Toraighyrov PSU. Director of the Regional Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer Sergey Smailov made a report on Science, Innovation and Green Economy. Candidate of Engineering Sciences, holder of the title of Honored Head of the Department of S. Toraighyrov PSU Ivan Shumeyko shared his ideas regarding wind power generators with anti-storm protection.
According to Sergey Smailov, this forum allowed to analyze the prospects of our region in the energy engineering sector, agriculture, water resources, waste utilization and recycling, i.e. the areas that have the greatest potential for a “green” economy.
The Chairperson of the G-Global Coalition for Green Economy and Development Saltanat Rakhimbekova noted the significance of making the transition to a “green” economy which would help to strengthen the economic potential of the country.
During the Forum, the issues related to the priorities and peculiarities of the regional policy in the process of implementation of the "green" principles of economic development, the role of the general public in promoting the "green" economy and mechanisms of its implementation were discussed.
The Forum was aimed at active involvement of business, civil society and local executive bodies in the implementation of the “green” economy project for accelerated development of the Pavlodar region. Presentations of the regional innovative business ideas and know-how projects in the field of a “green” economy were held for subsequent development within the preparation for EXPO-2017.
