The V International Robotics Championship for schoolchildren, Robotek Grand Tournament Astana 2026, was held in Astana.
This large-scale competition brought together more than 200 teams from seven Turkic-speaking countries, becoming one of the key events in the field of STEM education and digital transformation in the region. The goal of the championship is to identify and support talented schoolchildren in the fields of robotics, engineering, and programming, as well as to popularize technical professions among youth and draw attention to technical education.
The competitions took place across nine categories, including "Robotek," "Inverse Line Racing," "Delivery Robot," "Mergen," "Flag Delivery," "Sorting Robot," "RoboBasketball," "Matrix League of Mecha-clash," and the "Matrix Rising Pioneers – Innovation Challenge."
Mikhail Yaroslavtsev, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, participated in the championship as a jury member representing Toraighyrov University.
Additionally, educational grants from leading Kazakhstani universities were awarded to participating 11th-grade students. Toraighyrov University grants were awarded to Merey Toktamysov from the East Kazakhstan region and Meiram Sadu from Kokshetau.
The university's participation in such international projects contributes to the development of engineering and technical education, supports talented youth, and helps build the country's future human resource potential. Today, robotics, programming, and automation are becoming vital directions for modern industrial and technological development, and supporting schoolchildren interested in STEM is a crucial step toward training a competitive new generation of specialists.
