A ceremonial event marking the anniversary of Toraighyrov University brought together veterans, alumni, students, staff, and representatives of the University’s partner enterprises.
Among the honored guests was the Akim of Pavlodar Region, Asain Baikhanov, an alumnus of the region’s largest university, as well as Deputy Chair of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education Akerke Abylaikhan and Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors Nurlan Uteshev. They met with international students and faculty members and learned about the University’s digital ecosystem. The guests were also presented with research and AI projects developed by ToU scientists and students. To date, more than 10,000 ToU students have completed training in artificial intelligence as part of the AI-SANA program.
At the University’s Career Center, Asain Baikhanov was informed about cooperation with 256 regional enterprises and companies. The University actively builds partnerships with local executive authorities and businesses to train in-demand specialists. As part of educational programs, students can obtain additional micro-qualifications; over the past two years, more than 40 students have already earned such credentials.
In addition, the head of the region spoke with representatives of Toraighyrov University’s youth organizations. Student activists shared how they successfully combine their studies with social and civic engagement.
During the gala concert, the Akim emphasized that throughout its history, ToU has been a major forge of talent for both Pavlodar Region and Kazakhstan as a whole. He presented the University with a certificate worth 10 million tenge to equip an artificial intelligence laboratory.
“Over its 65-year history, the University has trained tens of thousands of highly qualified professionals, and 93% of its graduates are successfully employed in various sectors of the economy in their field of study,” noted Asain Baikhanov. “This is the result of high-quality training and effective educational programs. We are proud of the University’s achievements, as well as those of its students and alumni.”
In honor of the anniversary, a number of ToU employees received the highest awards. Fifteen scholars, faculty members, and staff were presented with the “For Services to the Region” badge, certificates of honor, and letters of appreciation from the Akim of Pavlodar Region. Departmental awards on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education were presented by Akerke Abylaikhan. Jubilee medals for contributions to the University were awarded to ToU veterans who dedicated many years of service, as well as to leaders of partner enterprises. The medals were presented by Nurlan Uteshev, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Nurlan Medetov, Rector of Toraighyrov University.
