The Rector of Toraighyrov University, Nurlan Medetov, participated in the first meeting of the Artificial Intelligence Development Council, chaired by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where key challenges for the education system were discussed.

The President emphasized that without the development of AI, it is impossible to remain competitive globally, calling this technology a driving force for economic growth and national sovereignty.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the need to focus primarily on improving the quality of education:

“Universities must prepare a new generation of local engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs capable of creating advanced technologies that meet modern global standards.”

The meeting also addressed ethical risks associated with AI. The President noted that the human connection between teacher and student must remain the foundation of education. He also raised the issue of preserving the originality, culture, and values of the nation in educational content. The Head of State reminded that AI is only an auxiliary tool, and humans—not machines—should be responsible for the quality and content of education, remaining the primary guarantor of the reliability of knowledge.

At Toraighyrov University, fields related to artificial intelligence are being actively developed. At the same time, key attention is paid to academic integrity. This ensures that students retain critical thinking and independent learning skills. AI should serve as a tool for development, not a replacement for personal intelligence and effort.
