Such an agreement was signed by the rector of Toraighyrov University, Nurlan Medetov, and the executive director of the CERGE-EI foundation, Tony Claudino.
Toraighyrov University, together with one of Europe’s leading economic institutes — CERGE-EI — and with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, plans to conduct online economics courses in a livestream format. Already this fall, students of the Faculty of Economics and Law, as well as all interested students, will be able to take the course “Ethics and Finance.” The program provides access to lectures by leading international experts, certification from CERGE-EI, and universities can recognize the course within their credit system (5 ECTS). Classes will be conducted through Moodle and Zoom platforms according to international academic standards, including plagiarism checks and regulated use of AI. The courses include 12 online lectures, homework assignments, a final exam, and an opportunity for a retake.
The ceremony for signing the memorandum of cooperation was held online. The meeting was attended by adviser to the Minister of Science and Higher Education Kaysar Erkinbayev and head of the Department of International Cooperation Serik Kalkamanov. According to the rector of Toraighyrov University, Nurlan Medetov, the project launch will provide students with access to new academic opportunities and strengthen partnerships with foreign educational institutions.
“We are pleased to cooperate with the ministry and Kazakhstani universities such as Toraighyrov University. It is a pleasure to be part of a project that will gather a large number of students this fall,” said Tony Claudino, executive director of the CERGE-EI foundation.
The international institute CERGE-EI is part of Charles University — one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe, ranked among the top 150 universities in Economics and Econometrics. Since 1993, the foundation has supported universities in Eastern Europe and the CIS by providing access to high-quality economics programs.
