Achievements of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology for the 2017-2018 academic year

1. Curriculum support and development

The Department provided training within 3 bachelor’s and 3 master’s degree programs during the reporting period. All academic programs of the Department are licensed. English-medium courses within 5B072100 Chemical Technology of Organic Substances have been developed. In addition, in the 2017-2018 academic year, year four students majoring in Chemical Technologies of Organic Substances, Chemical Technologies of Inorganic Substances and Chemistry successfully passed the external evaluation of educational achievements (the abbreviated name in Russian: VOUD).

In the 2017-2018 academic year 5 members of the teaching staff of the Department completed professional development courses at the National Center for Professional Development “Orleu” (Almaty). In the spring of 2018, the lecturer of the Department Amankeldi Bayken passed a three-month training course at the Institute of Catalysis Leibniz (Rostock, Germany).

The academic and teaching staff members of the Department have internships and professional development training at enterprises of Pavlodar oblast on a regular basis.

In 2016 the Department’s lecturer I. M. Radelyuk enrolled in the doctoral program at the University of Lund (Sweden) under the scholarship program “Bolashak”.

In 2017 the Department’s teaching staff members Nurlybekova and O. Ye. Mukashev enrolled in the doctoral programs at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Buketov Karaganda State University respectively.

In 2018 a senior lecturer M. Zh. Sadvakassova joined the doctoral program at L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

2. Academic mobility and visiting lecturers

The program of external and internal academic mobility among undergraduate and graduate students: 1 student majoring in 5B072000 Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances and 1 student majoring in 5B060600 Chemistry studied at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Poland) within the framework of the academic mobility program. From October 24 to November 10 of 2017, Professor Lapke (Gerhard Lapke, Bonn, Germany) from Senior Experten Service (SES) delivered lectures at the University.

3. Scientific work

In March 2018, the Department’s student teams took part in republican subject Olympiads. Students majoring in 5B060600 Chemistry came second in the team scoring, students majoring in 5B072000 Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances came third in the team scoring. The OZKhT-301 student Zh. Ye. Suindikova became the winner of the international competition of scientific works on the issues of fuel and energy complex (FEC) development (Russian Economic University, Moscow, Russia).

Students of the Department took an active part in scientific conferences. A total of 65 undergraduate and graduate students participated in various conferences under the supervision of the teaching staff members.

The teaching staff of the Department published 39 articles in various scientific journals, (including 2 articles in journals cited by Thomson Reuters databases). In 2017-2018 academic year the Department received 3 author’s certificates.

The Department’s branch of LLP Neftekhim LTD continues carrying out its activities, such as organization of student industrial practical training, writing of term papers, implementation of graduation projects in accordance with existing technologies; carrying out of research in the field of the Master’s thesis.

4. Educational work

Educational work of the Department was carried out according to the plan for educational work and social issues of the faculty of Chemical technologies and Natural Sciences:

- the Patriotic education promotion work was carried out: curatorial hours on the theme of “Constitution Day” were held;

- “Independence day”, “RukhaniZhanghyru” [Spiritual Modernization], “The Holiday of Unity of the Peoples of Kazakhstan”;

- On April 15, 2017 a field and track race, approved by Rector of S. Toraighyrov PSU, was held within the student Spartakiad among students at the sports field of the University. The faculty was represented by the student team including 10 people: 5 boys and 5 girls. The student group OZKhT-301 became the winner of the competition.

 

Certificates
