Learning facilities

The Department has 2 laboratories of General Chemistry and 7 laboratories in vocation-related disciplines.

The Department offers a variety of learning and laboratory spaces that are provided in not full amount as specified in the standards.

The Department has specialized laboratories with an area of 252 sq m, 2 classrooms with an area of 126 sq m. The state standard “Working laboratory” is not fully upheld (i.e. at least 4.5 sq m per student) when carrying out laboratory works in chemical subjects. The workload of laboratories, taking into account the time for preparation of laboratory work, is complete. In one laboratory room, works in several (3-4) close disciplines are carried out. The exhaust system in laboratory No. 502 has been repaired during the reporting academic year. Coating of laboratory workbenches has been replaced in all laboratories. The lecture hall No. 510 has a projector allowing instructors to deliver lectures with a suite of in-lecture interactive material (slides and other methodological material). However, it is necessary to retrofit classrooms and laboratories with modern ventilation hoods (in laboratories A-503, A-504, A-505, A-520), laboratory equipment and furniture.

There is no installed and unused equipment at the Department. In the 2018-2019 academic year, an application for the purchase of chemical reagents for laboratories in the sum of KZT 72, 623 was filed.

The Department has 12 computers, 3 scanners used in office work and development of a large number of teaching and learning guidelines and research works.

In order to provide visual materials for technological courses, the students developed and manufactured models of technological installations and devices within the following courses: Alumina Technology, Basic Processes and Equipment for Chemical Production.

The Department’s branch of LLP Neftekhim LTD continued carrying out its activities (for 2017-2020), such as organization of student industrial practical training, writing of term papers, development of graduation projects in accordance with existing technologies of the enterprise during the reporting period.

In 2015-2016 academic year, the Department purchased laboratory and research equipment worth more than KZT 90 million under the state program of industrial and innovative development (the abbreviated name in Russian: GPIIR-2).

Also “Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery” LLP carried out major repairs in the training laboratories of the University, having replaced training equipment.
