History of the department

The Department of the History of the Electric Power Industry dates back to 1960. Specialists who have been trained at the department work in Kazenergocabel JSC, Caustic JSC, Pavlodar Electric Distribution Company JSC, Casting PF LLP, Aksu Ferroalloy Plant - a branch of TNK Kazchrome JSC, Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC, Eurasian Energy Corporation LLP, LLP "Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant", LLP "Pavlodarenergo", LLP "Ekibastuzskaya GRES-2 Station", LLP "ERG Service", LLP "KSP Steel", LLP "Neftekhim LTD", LLP "Prommashkomplekt", LLP "Ekibastuzskaya GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov".

The educational process is conducted by highly qualified teachers with extensive experience in scientific, pedagogical and industrial activities. Among them are 9 professors, 3 doctors of sciences, 7 candidates of sciences, 10 PhD doctors.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the National H-index Ranking included only three teachers from the Toraigyrov University NAO in the TOP-1000 national ranking – all from the Department of Electrical Power Engineering: research professor Kletzel Mark Yakovlevich with an H-index of 17, associate professors Mashrapov Bauyrzhan Erbolovich with an H-index of 11 and Barukin Alexander Sergeevich with an H-index of 9. It is worth noting that they are the main executors of three grants and the authors of 40 published works in Scopus, Web of Science, including five with Q1 and Q2 ratings, published in free journals.
