The Department of Physical Education and Sports has existed since the opening of the Pavlodar Industrial Institute in 1960. The department provided physical education classes. Over 10 years, 22 masters and candidates for master of sports, 3206 athletes of different categories were trained. Every year, students of the university participate in city, regional, republican competitions, defend the honor of the university at the Universiades.

At the moment, the Department of Physical Education and Sports is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Toraigyrov University, the head of the department is PhD Erofeeva Renata Zhaudatovna.

Since 2021, the Department of Physical Education and Sports has been a university-wide department, serving the interfaculty in the discipline of Physical Education. Currently, the department employs 11 full-time teachers and four part-time workers:
- one PhD doctor - Erofeeva R.Zh.;
- 6 masters - Kistaubaev E.A., Temirgalieva S.E., Omarov T.S., Kuvatov A.Zh., Berkinov N.R., Kabylbek A.B.;
- two masters of sports - Kistaubaev E.A., Krivets O.A.;
- two international sports judges - Erofeeva R.Zh., Kistaubaev E.A.;
- two national category judges - Ferber E.A., Batyashova I.V.;
- President of the Rugby Federation of Pavlodar Region - Krivets O.A.;
- Kuvatov A.Zh. defended his doctoral dissertation in 2024;
- two doctoral students – Berkinov N.R., Kabylbek A.B.
