A round table on the topic "Kazakhstan media space: modern realias" was held in Almaty. The main topic became manipulations in the media, as well as the dissemination of false information.
Head of the department of Kazakh language and Journalism, Candidate of Philological Sciences, professor Ayman Zeynulina and senior lecturer Bayangul Kozhakhmetova discussed how to deal with the growing problem, whether it is possible to distinguish real news from false.
The event at the co-organization of the chief editors club and strategic communications agency SUCCES K gathered representatives of 25 universities.
The main speakers were Alan Azhibayev, Vice-Minister of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Bekhozhin, President of the "Chief Editors Club", General Director of Strategic Communications Agency SUCCES K Lyazzat Kokkozova and others.
Participants agreed that the stated problems have a negative impact on the minds of Kazakhstani people, and joint efforts of the state, journalists and universities are needed to solve them.
"By the projections of analysts in 2022 we will consume more false information than true. It is interesting that the proportion of social networks in Kazakhstan is not the greatest. In the Kazakhstani segment of Facebook there are a little over a million users, 400 thousand of which are real accounts. In "Vkontakte" there are about 3,5-4 million Kazakhstani people. Another thing is that this is just an active part of society, including youth from 18 to 26 years old, which unlike the older generation does not feel manipulative, uncritically perceives news, evaluates them solely by the title and accompanying tweet. And these people will form an information field, "- said Alan Azhibayev, Vice Minister of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The audience associated itself with the fact that today youth should have critical thinking.
