The day before in PSU was held a significant meeting for the region. Sophisticated columnist, photographer of National Geographic, lecturer of University of Montana, Western Horseman magazine editor Ryan Bell visited the university with friendly working visit.
The main passion of Ryan Bell is the horses, thereafter, in a cohort of National Geographic Society photographers, he is considered an well-deserved expert of these graceful animals, and deservedly gets for many years the Grand Prix for the photos of the horses life.
Before coming to Kazakhstan Ryan Bell spent some time in Russia, where he also studied the horses in their natural environment.
The guest told, how he was astounded that horses in Kazakhstan are endlessly respected and this respect originates from the ancient nomads history. At the same time, comparing Kazakhstan and other countries with a rich nomadic heritage, he noted that the horses in his motherland, Montana are also respected, but are not eaten. It was said with a delicate irony, but in a serious way. The guest noted that he equally respects the cultural heritage of the Kazakhs, as native nomads, including the features of the national cuisine.
According to Ryan Bell, initially, when he comes to the village or city, he meets a little biased attitude in the way "what can the foreigner know about our horses." However, according to the guest, all his life is connected with horses, livestock breeding and agriculture in general. Therefore, he knows everything that relates to these noble animals.
The guest more than once emphasized that the world-famous phenomenon of "cowboys" actually originates from the Kazakh steppes as the cradle of the nomads, for whom the good Argamak often was the most reliable friend in the hard steppe climate.
