The meeting of students with Doskhan Zholzhaksynov, outstanding actor and film director of Kazakh cinema, was held in S.Toraighyrov PSU.

Presentation of historical art film “Kunanbay”, dedicated to life of father of Kazakh national thinker and poet Abay Kunanbayev was held that day at PSU.

Action of Doskhan Zholzhaksynov’s picture sets in Kazakh steppes in XIX century.

The author of film played the main role.

Film tells about Kunanbay Oskenbayuli and about his influence on his son Ibragim, known for all world as Abai.

Epic picture of Doskhan Zholzhaksynov reveals character and identity of Kunanbay personality for audience. Film has deep philosophical undertone and colorfully illustrates manner of that era. Personality of the main character is revealed through eloquence and care about motherland, tribesmen. Film director could show Kunanbay from different sides: as a wise biy, who excellent knew steppe right and rules of the then Russian Empire, as deeply religious man, who strictly followed the canons of the Koran and as a prophet in his own homeland, for his wise advice and kind word came people from all Great Steppe.

Success of picture and the way how the main character was revealed in large measure were achieved thanks to genius for acting of film director D. Zholzhaksynov. As an actor master of cinema filmed in many Kazakhstan films, which include “Chase in the steppe”, “Golden autumn”, “Nomads” and etc.

Doskhan Zholzhaksynov made his debut as film director with the film “Birzhan-sal”, its high level was worthily noticed by critics and audience of Kazakhstan and foreign countries.

Film director preceded presentation of the film with the short lyrical digression, in which he told guests about significant steps in his life and film career and also about twist of acting art. Doskhan Zholzhaksynov also paid special attention to the fact, that such movie is very important for our country, and especially for young people of Kazakhstan.

The main goal of film director is to turn attention of new generation on their history, show wisdom of forefathers, depth and identity of own culture, remember about origin and believe in own country even in the era of super speed.

At the end of the meeting Doskhan Zholzhaksynov, national artist of Kazakhstan, and laureate of State Prize was awarded “Titular professor of S.Toraighyrov PSU” degree.
