Students of S. Toraighyrov PSU conducted the French language evening meeting, in which Fernander Kassaï, the legionnaire of Ertys Football Club, took part.

The meeting was organized by the Multilingual Education Center and the EXPO 2017 Volunteer Training Center of PSU.

Students had a good opportunity to practice their communication skills in four languages, Fernander Kassaï, in his turn, demonstrated an excellent command of the Russian language.

It should be mentioned that S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University and Ertys FC have concluded a Memorandum of Understanding, whereunder Kazakh, Russian and foreign language classes are delivered together with the football players.

During the meeting students delivered presentations about Kazakhstan and France, performed a kui on the dombra and sang songs in French.

According to the coordinator of the Center of the French Language and Culture of S. Toraighyrov PSU Tatyana Mikhaylovna Aydasheva the meeting with Fernander Kassaï was aimed at giving students the opportunity to communicate with a native speaker.

“The conversation was held mainly in English. But when Fernander Kassaï heard us speaking French, a smile spread across his face and he, of course, was glad to keep the conversation. This is because the French language is his mother tongue. We tried to create the authentic atmosphere of French narrow streets with small cafes and restaurants, a kind of French islet at PSU,” said Tatyana Mikhaylovna.

It should be noted that there is the Center of the French Language and Culture established at S. Toraighyrov PSU, the activities, which it carries out, are oriented to a thorough and practical study of the language. The works of world classic authors are available to PSU students. Knowing the French language makes it possible to strike up an acquaintance with foreigners that often leads to cooperation and establishing business relationships, effective personal communication and expansion of international relations.
