A Competence Center for Ecological Technologies of Pavlodar Oblast has been established at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.
Representatives of state authorities, higher education institutions and industrial giants of the regions, and members of the ecological board attended the opening ceremony of the center.
The center was established at the initiative and by order of the akim of the oblast, and under a program “Strategies of the main directions of Pavlodar oblast development up to 2030”.
The center will carry out its activities, applying the “think tank” principle.
Think tank may be understood as an intellectual center, where new ecological models are developed.
The deputy akim of Pavlodar oblast Nurzhan Ashimbetov noted that creation of the center was preceded by examination and application of international experience in the oblast. “We have worked with international companies, having practical experience in managing ecological projects. A Memorandum of Cooperation between the center and the Research Institute for Water and Waste Management (FiW), Germany, has been concluded with the aim of developing mutual cooperation and attraction of investments within the framework of an international forum “Ertys Invest 2015”,” said Nurzhan Kemerovich.
The supervisory board has included representatives of state authorities, higher education institutions and social organizations of the oblast.
The core activity of the center is localization of companies, carrying out production of goods and technology transfer in the sphere of environment protection (water, air and soil purification, waste processing, et al.), research organizations, and companies, rendering services in the field of ecology.
In his welcome speech, the rector of S. Toraighyrov PSU emphasized that the center would cooperate intensively with scientists of the University. “There is a Scientific and Practical Center “Monitoring”, operating at PSU. We will attract our scientists and use our scientific laboratories in such spheres as environment protection engineering, bioindication, chemistry and petrochemsitry, humanities, engineering and social sciences,” said Aryn Amangeldinovich.
