The rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University Aryn Orsariyev has taken part in an international forum “Internationalization in Higher Education” held at Tongji University in Shanghai.

Issues on practical implementation of the internationalization strategy in higher education and also the level of quality and development of international cooperation of China in the sphere of higher education have been discussed at the forum.

Besides this, Shanghai Tongji University together with S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University and the National Agency for Technological Development at the School of International Education has established the Kazakh Language and Culture Center.

This is the first Kazakh Language and Culture Center established in the People’s Republic of China, while, there are four centers of the Chinese language and culture, Confucius institutes, in Kazakhstan.

The center will carry out its activities on the basis of the University’s Library. The rector of PSU Aryn Orsariyev has presented books written by Abay, Sultanmakhmut Toraighyrov and Mashkhur Zhussup, various Kazakh language textbooks and the Kazakh language anthology in 10 volumes to the center’s fund.

Kazakhstan’s students, studying in the People’s Republic of China, consider the coincidence of center’s establishment with the celebration of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh khanate and the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory to be a good omen.

The key result of a working visit of the rector of S. Toraighyrov PSU Aryn Orsariyev to Shanghai Tongji University is ratification of a Memorandum of Cooperation between universities.

The memorandum provides for comprehensive cooperation at the interstate and interuniversity level, in order to support high-productive innovation-oriented interaction between engineers, managers and translators of the universities.

As part of the agreement, parties intend to rearrange education of Kazakhstan’s students in transport and bridge construction, project management and the study of the Chinese language.

The memorandum has been signed within the framework of the roundtable “One zone – one way” arranged in the framework of implementation of the Nurly Zhol Program of President N. A. Nazarbayev and the Silk Road Economic Belt of the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Tongji University is an acknowledged leader among Chinese higher educational institutions in transport, machine building, architecture and construction.

Besides the point, the world record of 487,3 km/h has been set by a Chinese high-speed train “Harmony” at the Beijing-Shanghai trunk. The previous speed record also belonged to China, as well as the superiority in construction of high-speed rail lines. Nowadays, over 7, 000 km of such trunks are in service in China, in terms of this fact, it is ranked 1st in the world.

Professional staff members of Tongji University are directly involved in implementation of such projects.

Now, owing to the initiative of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Kazakhstan has a challenging opportunity to adopt advanced technologies of Chinese bridge builders and railroaders.
