A roundtable on the theme “The great history of the Kazakh steppe” dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh khanate was held at the Scientific Library named after S. Beysembayev of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.
In the course of the roundtable the main aspects of formation of the Kazakh khanate were discussed, overview of the history of sovereignty development was provided, slides with the first governors of the Kazakh khanate were demonstrated, poems declaring how the Kazakh people protected and preserved the lands were declaimed. The event was aimed at instilling tolerance, respect for the history, the heroic past, traditions, culture and the heritage of the country in students. Students of PSU Kakim Bakizhan, Zhakan Yerkezhan, Saulegul Khoshorbaikyzy and Akerke Yemashkhanova were active participants of the roundtable.
Interesting discussion was held during the meeting in regards to a book “Tarikh-i Rashidi” written by Mukhammed Khaidar Dulati, which was presented by a librarian Aliya Rustemova in the bibliographic review of books about the khanate’s history. “The work “Tarikh-i Rashidi” contains a great amount of information on formation of the Kazakh khanate” underlined the librarian.
The works of the University’s scholars on the History of Kazakhstan, such books as “The history of colonization of the Kazakh people”, “From the history of Kazakhstan colonization policy of Tsarist Russia (1731-1917)” written by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor K. M. Aldabergenov, were presented to the participants of the roundtable. Students got very interested in books written by T. A. Insebayev, i.e. “The historic past of Eurasian kypchaks”, “Warcraft of kypchaks in the Middle Ages”, and also a 4-volume edition “Nomads” composed by the scholars of the University.
According to Kakim Bakizhan, a student, these and other publications stored in the funds of the library are valuable sources that help students prepare for history classes.
