The team of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University won the 1st Open Championship in Cheerleading.

This event was held by the National Cheerleading Federation of Kazakhstan, S. Toraighyrov PSU, and Pavlodar branch of the Cheerleading Federation.

The competition took place at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University. The Department of Educational Work and Social Affairs and Student Philharmonic of the University took an active part in its organization.

10 teams from Pavlodar and 2 teams from Almaty took part in the competition which was held in six categories including “Cheer Dance Show” (for preschoolers) “Cheer Dance Show” (for children aged 6-13), as well as events for couples and groups (for participants aged over 16).

The President of the National Cheerleading Federation of Kazakhstan Alimzhan Kasenov warmly welcomed the participants of the 1st Open Championship in Cheerleading. “Cheerleading is actively developing in many towns and cities of Kazakhstan. It is developing especially rapidly in Pavlodar region. Cheerleaders from Pavlodar constantly win prizes in national competitions,” he said.

According to Kayrat Ashenov, Director of the Department of Educational Work and Social Affairs of Pavlodar State University, the event is aimed at promoting cheerleading in Kazakhstan, encouraging young people to take up sport dance, introducing them to healthy lifestyles. “Our team represents Pavlodar region at the national level. Last year, the team of PSU cheerleaders (DIAMOND) won the main prize at the National Championship in Cheerleading and was awarded the Cup of Kazakhstan,” he said.

The student team representing S. Toraighyrov PSU (DIAMOND) won the main prize in the Cheer Dance Show category (for participants aged over 16). Besides, PSU students became winners in the coed stunt category and won the cup. A huge contribution to preparation of the team was made by Mira Beysenbaikyzy, the team's coach.

At the end of the event, Aynur Azimkhan, Director of the Student Philharmonic of S. Toraighyrov PSU, thanked all participants for taking part the competition. She congratulated the winners and wished them good luck in the upcoming competition in Almaty, where the team of PSU will represent our region.
