A Festival of Unity of People of Kazakhstan initiated by the Birlik Student Assembly and Committee for Youth Affairs was held at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.
Members of the Regional Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and representatives of ethnocultural associations of the region were invited as guests of honour.
Aynur Azimkhan, Head of the Student Philharmonic of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, noted in her speech that the event was aimed at promoting patriotism and creativity among young people. “Representatives of over 30 ethnic groups study together at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University,” she said.
According to Ramil Smailov, Chairman of the Student Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, members of Birlik take an active part in the University life. Such events contribute to the formation of the atmosphere of unity, strengthening of friendship and solidarity among students of different ethnic background. “Today each of us has a great opportunity to show cultural richness of his or her people,” he said.
An exhibition of national cuisines and a concert with the participation of creative teams from the regional House of Friendship was held in the foyer of the University’s main building. It was organized by the Department of Educational Work and Social Affairs and Student Philharmonic. The concert program included Ukrainian, Tatar-Bashkir, Polish and other nations' songs and dances.
“We tried to make a program that would be interesting for all students and staff members, we wanted to show something special about each ethnic group,” said Akbota Sarybai, Chairperson of the Committee for Youth Affairs of S. Toraighyrov PSU.
