An exhibition of war-time documents dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.
The exhibition was organized by the Archive of the President of Kazakhstan (Almaty) in cooperation with the museum complex of the University. Over 200 exhibits were presented there.
Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Arman Akishev, Vice-Rector for Development Strategy, Educational and Social Affairs of S. Toraighyrov PSU, welcomed all guests of the event during the opening ceremony.
Among participants of the event, there were people who witnessed all the hardship of that war in person. Viktor Kudinov and his wife Yevdokiya Perepelkina told about the life during the years of the Great Patriotic War.
“Life was extremely difficult. It is still terrifying to remember how 4 people had to share 100 grams of bread. There was nothing else. We were starving. However, I am deeply convinced that people can withstand anything, provided that they preserve kindness in their hearts and their will to live remains firm,” said Yevdokiya Perepelkina.
Bolegen Kasenov, Head of the Documents Management Department at the Archive of the President of Kazakhstan and curator of this exhibition, emphasized that the exhibition at PSU was unique in many ways. Telegrams from Stalin and Molotov on the establishment of guerrilla groups, documents and letters showing courage of Kazakh soldiers from different parts of our country, and many more rare documents were demonstrated there.
The exhibition included five sections. There were copies of unique materials showing the history of industrial plants, research centers and cultural institutions evacuated to Kazakhstan, as well as information on Panfilov division, posters and banners, and some letters from the frontline.
S. Beysembayev Scientific Library also held a book exhibition on the history of the Great Patriotic War.
