Dayana Mazhimova, an undergraduate student of the Department of Mechanics and Oil and Gas Engineering, Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport of S. Toraighyrov PSU, won the 2nd prize at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Oil and Gas Horizons” in Moscow.
The 6th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Oil and Gas Horizons” was held at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Moscow.
At this Conference, students were given the opportunity to present their views on the problems and prospects of the domestic and global oil industry development. The problems of professional training and internationalization of education, that are essential for the sustainable development of the oil industry, were also discussed by participants of the Conference.
Dayana Mazhimova, a NGD-402 group student, presented a program for calculating the main oil pipeline in the Mathcad system, which is a new solution in engineering calculations. It can conduct calculations and document them at the same time and also significantly reduces the risk of costly mistakes. According to Vladimir Ryndin, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor and Supervisor of the project, this Conference is a solid foundation for the exchange of experiences and knowledge among students and representatives of all sectors of the oil industry.
Since the Conference was attended by students representing 28 universities from 8 countries (Romania, Denmark, India, China, France, etc.), the entire event was held in English.
Dayana Mazhimova says it was not a problem for her, because courses at PSU are taught in three languages and many lectures are delivered by leading foreign scientists.
“Participation in the event of that scale and winning a prize there helped me realize that a constant self-development is crucial for young people who strive to become highly-skilled specialists. We need to develop our skills, study English, work with modern information technologies and be persistent in achieving our goals,” says Dayana Mazhimova.
