Akim of Pavlodar region Kanat Bozumbayev visited S. Toraighyrov Pavldoar State University and delivered an open lecture on the Strategy of Socio-Economic Development of the Region on October 13, 2014.

The lecture was attended by students of the region, leaders of the youth and public organizations, representatives of the Council of Young Scientists of Pavlodar region and the Council of Young Civil Servants.

In his lecture, Kanat Bozumbayev stressed the importance of developing long-term priority projects in the region and the necessity of finishing the work on building highly developed and economically powerful Kazakhstan.

Akim of the region also told about the problems of industrial and innovative development, analyzed multifaceted problems of agriculture and healthcare. Besides, he elaborated on the development of business and tourism in the region.

Speaking about education, Kanat Bozumbayev noted that universities with their research potential and talented creative students have become the most important sources of the human capital for our country, main centers for generation of ideas and popularization of innovation, new ways of thinking and socio-economic changes in the country.

Rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Serik Omirbayev noted in his welcoming speech that today's younger generation will shape up the society of the future which will build a new Kazakhstan in the new world. “You, the young, are tomorrow's scientific potential of our country, our intellectual elite. I am deeply convinced that your generation will live and work in the time of radical changes in science. New Copernicuses and Einsteins will appear in the next decade, they will achieve unbelievable breakthrough in science. This is not going to be just “clarification of details” - I believe there will be total reassessment of values and some sensational discoveries will be made,” said Serik Omirbayev.

The lecture was also attended by Deputy Akim of Pavlodar region Aryn Orsariyev, Deputy Akim of the region for Social and Economic Affairs Gani Sadibekov, Akim of the city of Pavlodar Bulat Bakauov, Chief of the Staff at the Akim's Office of Pavlodar region Rasul Urazgulov.

In the second part of the lecture, students had the opportunity to ask their questions. They asked the Akim to tell them about the measures for social support of young specialists in Pavlodar region, discounts for public transport tickets, employment prospects and career advancement opportunities. Students also wanted to know about the state of environmental problems in the region. There was one question regarding demonstration of feature films in the official language.

The audience showed great interest in Akim's lecture. It helped students realize that they are on the brink of new discoveries, a new stage in their lives and that it is their duty to make a significant contribution to the development of the scientific potential of the country.
