A minifootball competition for the Rector’s Cup was held for academic and support staff members of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology, Candidate of Physico-mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Nurlybek Ispulov welcomed the participants of the competition on behalf of the University administration. He also stressed the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles. “We need to stimulate interest in such events, which is possible only when people talk about it. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, developing a new system of values based on patriotism and civic engagement, and saying no to bad habits require a high level of personal motivation. Therefore, the problem of achieving and maintaining a high level of physical activity and healthy lifestyle by means of physical education and sports is urgent”.

The competition was held in accordance with the simplified rules of minifootball on two fields of S. Toraighyrov PSU stadium.

Over 50 academic and support staff members of the University took part in the competition.

The team of the Faculty of Humanities and Education won the Cup. The Division of Technical Support of University Informatization took the second place. The team of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport finished third.

“The competition was intense which is evidenced by the statistics: the winners of both semi-finals and the final were announced only after a penalty shootout,” said the Chairman of Sunkar Sports Club Zhaudat Ableyev.

The competition was organized on a very high level. All players demonstrated good football skills and knowledge of the rules. By taking an active part in the competition, PSU members expressed their attitude to the state policy in the field of physical education and sports, as well as healthy lifestyles promotion.
