A celebratory assembly dedicated to the International Day of Knowledge was held near the main entrance of the main academic building of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University on September 1, 2014. The event was attended by students, teachers, researchers and veteran pedagogues.

This year, nearly 2,000 school-leavers have become PSU students.

The opening speech was delivered by the Rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Serik Omirbayev. 'Starting from this moment, you are proud holders of the title of S. Toraighyrov PSU students. Our University is the leader in the field of education in the Pavlodar Region and one of the leading multidisciplinary Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It's your ticket to the world of unlimited educational opportunities where you will have all the conditions for the development of your research and creative potential', said Serik Omirbayev.

The Dean of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor Toleugazy Toktaganov and a third year student of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology Yernur Sagyntai gave their speeches addressed to the participants of the event. Aleksandr Krasayev, a first-year student of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction, delivered a welcoming speech to his fellow freshmen.

During the event, flowers were laid to the monument of S. Toraighyrov by Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor of the Department of Transport Equipment and Logistics Abylkhan Karakayev and a third-year student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Daniyar Nurlybek.

Newly enrolled first-year students also heard a lecture devoted to the Constitution Day and Knowledge Day. The lecture described key moments in our Republic's development and contained words addressed to the future generation of our region’s scientific elite. The lecture was read by Candidate of Juridical Sciences, Associate Professor Bulat Olzhabayev.

After the end of the assembly, organizational meetings were held by faculties in the main academic building of S. Toraighyrov PSU.
