Under the agreement on mutual cooperation in research and educational activities between L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Astana) and Administration of Pavlodar region, the I Summer School in Biology devoted to Topical Problems of Modern Biology was held at Bayantau Holiday House of S. Toraighyrov PSU.
The event was attended by graduate students in Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Science of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University and graduate students in Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural Science of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The program of the I Summer School in Biology included a theoretical seminar, experimental research and the following lectures: “Role of DNA Technology in Modern Biology Development”, “Genomics and Biotechnology: Role in Medicine”, and “Selected Topics of Molecular Genetics: Regulation of Gene Expression” by R. Bersimbay, NAS Full Member, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of General Biology and Genomics at L.N. Gumilyov ENU; “Biochemical Basis of Plant Resistance to Viruses, Modern Plant Biotechnology” by R. Omarov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology at L.N. Gumilyov ENU; “Oxidative Damage to DNA, Biological Recovery Technology for Oil-Polluted Ecosystems” by Zh. Masalimov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Management and Engineering at L.N. Gumilyov ENU; “Biological Characteristics of Hospital Infections Microflora” by A. Dinmukhamedova, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of General Biology and Genomics. S. Toraighyrov PSU was represented by the following lecturers: K. Akhmetov, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor (lecture on “Functional Morphology of Trematodes' Male Gametes”); K. Ulykpan, Professor of the Department of Biology and Ecology, Doctor of Biological Scienecs (lecture on “Concept of Biological Diversity, Its Current Theoretical and Practical Significance”).
Classes were held in the format of workshops and seminars. There were also roundtable conferences with free exchange of ideas and discussion of scientific problems by postgraduate students.
