Rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University participated online in the International Research and Practice Forum on Strategic Planning of Territorial Development, Experience, Modern Trends, and Prospects on April 24, 2014.

The main objective of the Forum is to identify approaches to development of strategies for sustainable development of territories based on the interests of society and formed under the influence of international integration processes.

Among the participants of the Forum were research institutes and educational organizations from Austria, Italy, Hungary, Ukraine, Greece, Japan, ministries and departments of the Russian Federation, small and medium enterprises, banking sector, consulting companies, departments and offices of Lipetsk region and the city of Lipetsk.

Participants of the Forum discussed such problems as the experience of strategizing territorial development; the place and role of development institutions in the economy; necessary factors of the regional innovation system infrastructure; signs, tools and capabilities for improvement of the investment climate and investment attractiveness of regions; development of interregional and international academic mobility programs; international integration of education, science and business.

Initiators of the Forum: Department of Economic Development of the Administration of Lipetsk and the Lipetsk branch of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

Pavlodar State University was the only participant from Kazakhstan.

PSU was invited to participate in the Forum after signing a Cooperation Agreement with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow) this March.

Rector of S. Toraighyrov PSU, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Serik Omirbayev made a report on the Development of Regions as a Factor of Sustainable Development of Country's Economy.

In the context of the State Program of Regional Development, members of our University developed the Strategy of Industrial and Innovation Development of Pavlodar Region till 2020. Implementation of this strategy, along with the use of natural competitive advantages, will ensure realization of the key projects aimed at development and diversification of the economy of our region in accordance with the idea of N.A. Nazarbayev (‘From strong regions to a strong country’), said Serik Omirbayev.
