Students and teaching staff members of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies of S. Toraighyrov PSU held a festive event dedicated to St. Valentine's Day.

Saint Valentine's Day has gained immense popularity among people of different ages, nationalities, and religions worldwide, so no wonder that its annual celebration has already become a good tradition for S. Toraighyrov PSU students.

This year, the students decided to celebrate the holiday in an original way. Declarations of love were made in different languages. Besides, the participants of the celebration showed a theatrical production entitled “The Gods of Love”. According to the plot, numerous guises of love were shown as different gods and goddesses. Those included Kama, the Indian god of love; Aphrodite or Venus, the goddess of love in the Greco-Roman Pantheon arisen from the sea foam; Yarylo, the Slavic god of love and rebirth.

Members of the teaching staff of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies welcomed and congratulated all the participants and guests of the event. The Head of the Department, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Galina Demessinova noted that learning to see the world through the lens of other cultures and not losing one's own national identity at the same time is not an easy thing to do, but the specific character of translators' and interpreters' work is determined by close cooperation with representatives of other nationalities, which means that knowledge of the culture and customs of other countries is a professional necessity.

No one was left without gifts. Contests were followed by lively dancing performances. Participants of the event did not want to miss their chance to tell gentle, warm and most desired words to their friends, fellow students, exchange congratulations, gifts and just share their emotions with each other!
