S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University organizes professional development activities for its teachers and auxiliary staff members on a regular basis.

According to the Professional Development Sector of S. Toraighyrov PSU, 65 people took professional development courses in 2013. 27 people went to the largest universities of Kazakhstan, 11 people were at the leading universities of the Russian Federation, 2 people visited Belarusian National Technical University and the Institute of Tourism (the Republic of Belarus), and 1 person went to Xinjiang University (Urumqi, China).

24 PSU teachers took professional development courses in accordance with the plan of the branch of the Orleu National Center for Professional Development, National Institute for Professional Development of Managerial, Scientific and Pedagogical Workers of the RK Education System. 3 teaching staff members went abroad: 2 people went to the UK, and one person was in Portugal (funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

The following scientists of PSU took professional development courses in January of 2014: Kuandyk Sakanov (Faculty of Architecture and Construction) went to Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Construction; Bakhtygul Salimzhanova and Svetlana Khasenova (Faculty of Finance and Economics) took a professional development course at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; Vladimir Ryndin (Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport) went to Omsk State Technical University (the Russian Federation); Sholpan Zhumadina (Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences) and Gulzhan Artykbayeva (Faculty of History and Law) went to Georg-August University of Goettingen (Germany).

In accordance with the professional development plan of the University, 97 people are going to take professional development courses in 2014, 70 of them are teachers and 27 are auxiliary staff members.

Professional development courses are held at a high level, which is evident from the reports submitted to the Rector of S. Toraighyrov PSU. For example, the Head of the Department of Industrial, Civil and Transport Construction Kuandyk Sakanov noted that innovative technologies are used in these courses, and he brought a lot of methodological materials necessary for further work.

A series of events - round table discussions and briefings - is planned to be held in Pavlodar State University, so the people who have already passed the professional development courses could share their experience and impressions with their colleagues.
