On December 11, 2013, the Education Informatization Center of S. Toraighyrov PSU celebrated the 5th anniversary of its establishment.

Information technology is one of the driving forces behind rapid and dynamic changes in the modern world. Active development of information technology was bound to affect the educational process and the system of higher and postgraduate education.

In order to implement the state policy on work in the field of education and science informatization, the Education Informatization Center (EIC) was established at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University on November 15, 2008. These were the five years of hard and painstaking work highly appreciated by fellow members and students of the University

According to the Rector of S.Toraighyrov PSU Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Serik Omirbayev, an undisputed trend of the third millennium is using innovative and IC technologies in education. “S. Toraighyrov PSU is equipped with modern technologies for realization of educational programs in full volume. Distance education technologies are actively used in the learning process. Now we have created a comfortable environment for the teaching staff and students of our University”, said Serik Omirbayev.

EIC provides electronic educational resources for the learning process. Working in close cooperation with the teaching staff of the University, EIC specialists create the following types of electronic educational resources: electronic textbooks and study guides, video lectures, and mobile learning applications.

PSU has a unified information network within the corporate network of the University with data transfer speed of up to 1024 Mbps. It includes over 6 km of optical fiber cable, 16 km of twisted pair cable, and 108 Wi-fi wireless access points.

All electronic educational resources are available on the educational portal of S. Toraighyrov PSU in the personal profile pages of students and teaching staff members, as well as in the media library of the University. Each participant of the learning process has the opportunity to use the electronic educational materials during the classes.

The success of the information systems and new educational technologies implementation depends on the specialists working at EIC. Coordinated work and professional skills of EIC members, focus on the result, deep understanding of the tasks and roles of each EIC member allow the Center to maintain a high level of requirements to the quality of services and fulfill its tasks.

The policy of the University in the field of education informatization became decisive in the formation of a modern university model, which applies new information technologies in its management and educational process ensuring academic freedom in choosing a learning trajectory and supporting innovation in education.
