A scientific and methodological seminar entitled “Inter-ethnic Tolerance in Modern Kazakhstan Society: Current State and Trends” with the participation of Deputy Deans for Educational Work, Heads of Departments, researchers in the field of social sciences and humanities, undergraduate and post-graduate students was held at S. Toraighyrov PSU.
The purpose of this event was to analyze the current state of inter-ethnic relations and trends of tolerant culture development in Kazakhstan society.
The seminar was organized by the Regional Research Center for the Study of Inter-ethnic and Inter-confessional Processes of S. Toraighyrov PSU (hereinafter referred to as the Center).
The seminar was attended by the Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Policy of Pavlodar region Roza Shamkenova, consultant of the Department of the Organizational Work of the NDP Nur Otan Pavlodar regional branch Alpesh Syzdykova, Deputy Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Youth Organizations, Head of the German Youth Club of Pavlodar region, InEU student Artur Bartel.
The seminar on inter-ethnic tolerance in modern society is one of the planned activities of the University in the field of implementation of the ethnic and religious policy among students.
Participants of the seminar heard the reports made by G.K. Zhapekova, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Culturology of S. Toraighyrov PSU (a report entitled “Tolerance: Genesis and History”), A. Bartel (“The Role of Modern Kazakhstan Youth in Strengthening the National Unity”), A. Meyrmanov, a student of the Faculty of History and Law (“National Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an Example of Inter-ethnic Tolerance”), A. Mukanova, a Master's degree student of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences (“On Teaching Tolerance to the Younger Generation”), D. Shakenov, a student of the Faculty of History and Law (“The Assembly of People of Kazakhstan as the Basis for Inter-ethnic and Inter-religious Tolerance”).
After hearing the reports, participants of the seminar exchanged their views and suggestions on the designated topic and identified further areas of work to build and strengthen a culture of tolerance among the youth.
Then, the results of the contest dedicated to the International Day of Tolerance were announced, and the ceremony of awarding the winners in each nomination was held.
The ‘Best Article’ nomination: 1st place - Adilet Meyrmanov, 2nd place - Aynura Mukanova, 3rd place - Dias Shakenov.
The ‘Best Slogan’ nomination: 1st place - Yakobs Sergeyevs, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport (Oil and Gas Engineering); 2nd place - Rysbek Mausumbayev, a 1st year Master's degree student of the Faculty Humanities and Education (Psychology and Pedagogy); 3rd place - Daulet Kuderin, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Energy Engineering (Automation and Control).
The ‘Best Logo’ nomination: 1st place - Anastasiya Panarina, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport (Machine Building); 2nd place - Sagynysh Nurkimbayev, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport (Machine Building).
The ‘Tolerance through the Camera Lens’ nomination: 1st place - Rysbek Mausumbayev, 2nd place - Yerzhigit Taghay, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction (Vocational Education).
‘Arnau’: 1st place - Zhanat Zhangeldі, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Energy Engineering (Electrical Power Engineering); 2nd place - Kasymkhan Mukhitov, a 1st year student of the Faculty of Humanities and Education; 3rd place - Aygul Kulmanbetova, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Humanities and Education (Journalism).
The undergraduate and postgraduate students, who won prizes in this competition, also received honorary certificates.
On behalf of the Deputy of Regional Maslikhat G.G. Nurkhanova, A.Z. Syzdykova awarded cash prizes. R.Sh. Shamkenova presented certificates for a semi-annual subscription to the Region.kz newspaper and a book “Memory of the Heart” by S. Gorbunov.
At the end of the awarding ceremony, Director of the Center Nurzhamal Tyshkanova thanked the guests for attending this event and presented letters of appreciation for the support of initiatives implemented at the University and active participation in the process of building inter-ethnic and religious tolerance among students.
