The Department of Philology and Journalism at Toraighyrov University held a Journalism Forum with international participation. The event became a platform for discussing current issues in modern journalism, professional standards, and the transformation of the media sphere in the context of digitalization.
The forum was organized for school and university students interested in journalism and the media industry. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the practical experience of industry professionals, as well as modern media trends and labor market requirements.
Representatives of the media community and academic sphere took part in the forum. Among the speakers were Ruslan Bilyalov, head of the media holding LLP “Ertis MEDIA”; Bolat Amanbay, chairman of the Pavlodar regional branch of the Union of Journalists; Tatyana Galkina, associate professor at S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University; Zhazgul Ibraimova, lecturer at the American University of Central Asia; Daniyar Zhumadilov, chairman of the public association “Jebe”; Alexey Bozhkov, editor of the investigative journalism agency “VITYAZ”; and freelance journalist Indira Kakimova.
Rustam Gulov, an AI literacy specialist from Dushanbe, also spoke at the forum and presented the possibilities of using Notebook LM and Google AI Studio in editorial work. Daulet Dairbayev, head of the creative association “Luch,” shared his experience of professional development and spoke about choosing a future career.
As part of the forum, an essay competition for school students on journalism and the media sphere was held. The best participants were awarded in a ceremonial closing of the event.
The forum became a platform for professional dialogue between students, school students, teachers, and representatives of the media community, and also contributed to the promotion of journalism education and strengthening ties between the university and regional media.
