The professional skills competition was held from May 13 to 15. ERG Skills has been organized by the Eurasian Group for the third time. This year, students of Toraighyrov University competed in several competencies at once. Second-year student Nigmat Kabulov competed in the “Foundry Technology” competency. Another second-year student, Andrey Fuks, represented the university in the “Engineering Graphics and CAD” competency. The students demonstrated to the experts their skills in computer-aided design and manual molding of foundry molds for producing metal parts in foundry production. As a result of the competition, Nigmat Kabulov took second place in his competency. His expert and mentor was Nurbolat Kulumbayev, head of laboratories of the Metallurgy Department at ToU.

Participation in such competitions allows students and teachers to gain practical experience in in-demand professional competencies for future successful careers, and gives the university an opportunity to adjust its own programs and teaching methods to improve the level of students’ knowledge, skills and abilities, thereby increasing their competitiveness in the labor market, said Pyotr Bykov, Director of the Continuing Education Center “Extention” at Toraighyrov University. From May 21 to 23, ERG Skills competitions will be held in turning, fitting and laboratory chemical analysis. Students of ToU will be represented in all competencies.
