PhD, research scientist at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies of Toraighyrov University Ivan Radelyuk won the STEPPE AWARDS 2023, dedicated to the creative industry, in the “Science” category.

- Deepest gratitude to the organizers of @thesteppe for such a precise definition of science as an art form for two reasons. Firstly: enjoying the aesthetics of the process of passing “to the stars through difficulties” in laboratories, calculations, coding, expeditions - when the result is given by blood, sweat, time, physical and mental health. And secondly: devotion to the calling в богатстве, и в бедности, in wealth, in poverty, and in Kazakhstani conditions,” noted Ivan Radelyuk.

Ivan's scientific research is related to the analytical chemistry of environmental objects. After completing his PhD at Lund University (Sweden), Ivan Radelyuk continued his research not only in assessing environmental risks, but also in search of solutions to these problems.

These areas are relevant, given the problems of fresh water scarcity, the impending reduction of water resources and the sad condition of atmospheric air quality.

His current project is to evaluate the reuse of industrial wastewater treated to an acceptable quality, using a reduction in water footprint as a target.

It should be noted that 13 categories were allocated in the Steppe Prize in the field of creative industry, where the achievements of budding creators of Kazakhstan and those whose works did not receive the deserved attention this year were noted.
