The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 global goals that UN countries adopted in 2015 to make our world fairer, safer and greener by 2030. It’s not just about fighting poverty or climate change, but also about quality education, health, equality, sustainable cities and innovation.

The Sustainable Development Policy of the NJSC Toraighyrov University was reviewed and approved by the Decision of the Board of Directors of Toraighyrov University dated June 2, 2025, protocol No. 5. The University recognizes the importance of integrating sustainable practices and is committed to working to implement them in education, research, campus management, and community engagement. This policy is aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring a sustainable future for our students, staff, and the entire society.

- Action Plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Policy - includes specific goals and objectives. 

- Sustainable procurement policy. 

 

SDG is a global plan; it directly concerns each of us. Especially the young. You, who will live in the future that, builds now. Moreover, you can become its drivers.

- More than 700 million people still live in extreme poverty.

- One in three city dwellers in the world lives in overcrowded slums.

- 43% of the world's waste is still not properly disposed of.

 

What is already changing?

 

- Since 2000, the infant mortality rate has dropped by almost half.

- Internet access has grown from 15% to over 60% in the last 20 years, opening up new opportunities for education.

- More and more companies are adopting sustainable practices, reducing their carbon footprint.

What a student can do?

- Learn and share: Participate in projects related to ecology, human rights, social entrepreneurship. Share knowledge.

- Volunteer: Help local communities, participate in eco-initiatives, university events.

- Make conscious choices: Support brands that think about ecology and human rights.

- Be active: Join student associations, conduct educational events, initiate a dialogue on sustainable development.

SDGs are not an abstraction, but a concrete benchmark that you can use to change the world around you. Student life is a time to search for meanings and influence. In addition, sustainable development is one of the strongest meanings today.
