Volunteers of the EXPO 2017 Volunteers Preparation Center and Social Volunteer Center visited a family child care home of Kenzhekol village in the lead up to New Year.

Social work is one of the key activities of the EXPO 2017 Volunteers Preparation Center established at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

Volunteers visited all ten family child care homes and held a fete for children. New Year songs, poems, gifts, wishes from young friends created the atmosphere of a Sunday morning in a family circle.

Children in care need simple communication more than gifts. The smallest ones turned out to be the most communicative. They were pleased to get acquainted with volunteers. Children told about themselves and their favorite daily activities, showed their toys and the New Year Tree decorated by the whole family.

“We really loved the children. We are looking forward to seeing them again. We would like to visit children homes more often. I think, everyone can do kind things for others, as it is not difficult to spend some time helping out those who are in need, where there’s a will there’s a way,” said a leader of the EXPO 2017 Volunteers Preparation Center Valeriya Dzhembetova.

“People often are under a delusion that children in care are ill-mannered, cruel and shallow-hearted, but it is not true. Children deprived of parental care feel the need of being supported and trusted, they can truly appreciate friendship and kindness,” said a leader of the EXPO 2017 Volunteers Preparation Center Torgyn Kaydarova.
