Students of S. Toraighyrov PSU became the winners of the Asia and Oceania Powerlifting Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

About five hundred sportsmen from Asian countries, namely Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgizia, Japan, Nauru, the United Arab Emirates, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Singapore, Indonesia, Samoa and Australia, competed for the Champion title. 

A student of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport of S. Toraighyrov PSU Yernur Haylyamov received the 1st place medal in the 59 kg weight class, holding a great total of 497,5 kg, having complied with norm requirements for the title of International Master of Sports.

“The habit of winning is formed since my childhood, when I went in for sports. My greatest achievement in this competition is that I managed to comply with norm requirements for the title of International Master of Sports. But it is too soon to relax, lots of unbroken records are ahead of me. My rules for life are to stick to my goals, to overcome difficulties, to defeat competitors and myself,” said Yernur. 

Aliya Tulegenova, a student of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences of S. Toraighyrov PSU, was good at bench pressing. The sportsman put in a strong performance and won the silver medal of the competition.
