PSU students and members of the University's youth organizations participated in the opening ceremony for the Year of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan (APK).

The flag of the APK Year was carried throughout the famous historic and cultural sights of Pavlodar. The event began near the Monument to Unity and Harmony, then the participants went to Zh. Aymauytov Regional Drama Theater, visited the State Symbols Square, monuments to Ch. Valikhanov and G. Potanin, Monument to Victims of Political Repression, and the Obelisk of Glory. Kanat Bozumbayev, Akim of Pavlodar region and Chairman of the Regional Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, took part in the opening ceremony attended by members of ethnic and cultural associations, students, pupils, and intellectual elite of the region.

Rinat Abdulkayumov, an undergraduate PSU student with excellent academic performance, leader of the Tatar-Bashkir Social and Cultural Center of Pavlodar region, was one of those who carried the flag of the APK Year. According to Rinat, this ceremony is a landmark event and a large-scale demonstration of the ideas of peace and social harmony in Kazakhstan. “Our common goal is to take specific actions to preserve the unity and stability in our multiethnic country,” he said.

A large exhibition of arts and crafts was organized by members of ethnic and cultural associations in the foyer of the House of Friendship. There was also a flash-mob held by the local youth.
