Dear Students of Economics Specialties,

The Department of Economics of Toraighyrov University announces the organization of the International Student Research Paper Competition in Economics on the topic:

“The Economy of the Future: ESG, Decarbonization, Technologies, and Investments”

Participants

The competition is open to 3rd- and 4th-year undergraduate students of Kazakhstani and foreign higher education institutions majoring in economics.

Research papers must be prepared by teams consisting of 2 to 3 students under the supervision of a senior lecturer, associate professor, or professor of a relevant профиль department.
The right to nominate participants is determined independently by each university.

Working languages: Kazakh, Russian, English.

Enhancing the Competitiveness and Investment Attractiveness of Domestic Industrial Enterprises through Training and Retraining of Personnel with ESG Competencies

The Future of Economic Sectors: Ecology, Investments, and Technologies

Improving Management and Marketing in the Context of Decarbonization and the Development of a “Green” Economy

Competition Format and Stages

The competition will be held online in two stages:

Stage 1: Development and preparation of a research paper within the selected section;

Stage 2: Submission of competition materials to the Organizing Committee and evaluation by the Competition Jury
(deadline: February 18, 2026).

Results and Awards

Based on the competition results, the following awards will be granted:

1st place — one team;

2nd place — two teams;

3rd place — three teams.

The winners will be awarded diplomas.

The competition is held within the framework of the state-funded research project
IRN AP26100705 “Enhancing the Competitiveness and Investment Attractiveness of Domestic Industrial Enterprises through Training and Retraining of Personnel with ESG Competencies.”

In accordance with the «Rules for the allocation of vacant educational grants for higher and postgraduate education leading to the award of a bachelor’s or master’s degree, which have become vacant in the course of study», online applications are being accepted for vacant educational grants for bachelor’s and master’s programs that have become available during the learning process.

Applications may be submitted through the Students’ Personal Account from 5 January to 13 January 2026.

To participate in the competition, students on a contractual basis must attach the following documents:

- application addressed to the Chairman of the Board-Rector on participation in the competition;

- application for a transcript;

- a copy of the identity card.

The list of vacant grants is posted on the university portal, in the section "For students" - "Vacant grants" (link: https://tou.edu.kz/ru/?option=com_content&view=article&id=9974) .

The competition is based on the results of an intermediate assessment based on the GPA average. In the case of the same indicators of the GPA (Grade Point Average - Great Point Everage), students who have grades only A, A- ("excellent"), then - grades from A, A- ("excellent") to B+, B, B-, C+ ("good"), then - mixed marks for the entire period of study.

Applications of applicants are considered in the context of a group of educational programs, a course of study, a training base (on the basis of a school / college).

In the absence of applicants for a group of educational programs, vacant educational grants are redistributed within the field of study and further across the field of education.

The decision to award vacant grants released in the course of study is made by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education on the recommendation of the Academic Council of the University.
