S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University held the research and practice conference “Modern Trade Unions: Development Paths, Topical Issues, Achievements and Innovations” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the 70th anniversary of the union of trade unions of Pavlodar region.

The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, Professor Bakytzhan Abdiraiym, Chairman of the public association “Local professional union of workers of the south-eastern structural subdivisions of “KazTransOil”, JSC, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Nelli Pfeifer, and others.

In the online mode, participants from Ekibastuz and Aksu joined the conference.

- Today we are participating in the legislative part, we have initiated our proposals, amendments to the labor code, this is precisely in terms of ensuring safe working conditions. Today, for example, the creation of industrial councils is an optional norm, but since they provide a complete cycle of labor protection and safe working conditions, we propose that this becomes an obligatory norm, Gulnar Zhumageldiyeva, head of the Committee for Social and Economic Relations and Social Partnership of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said.

Issues about the role of trade unions in promoting the ILO principles on ensuring decent work, the international legal foundations of social and labor rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the modernization of trade unions were considered during the meeting.

The conference continued in three sections. At the end of the conference a resolution will be adopted.
