Achievements

The staff of the Department of History of Kazakhstan provides quality training of highly-qualified research and teaching staff in the following programs: 5B020300 History, 5B011400 History, 6M020300 History, and 6M020800 Archaeology and Ethnology.

The main indicators of the Department's achievements are as follows:

- Master's degree students in 6М020300 History studied at Collegium Civitas (Warsaw, Poland) during their 3rd semester (2012);

- Master's degree students in 6М020300 History studied at European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania) during their 3rd semester (2014);

- Bachelor's degree students Saniya Serkenova and Madina Akhmetova studied at L.N. Gumilyov ENU (2012).

4) Successful implementation of the plan for inviting foreign lecturers:

Lecturers from other countries work with students majoring in 5В020300 History, 6М020300 History, 6М020800 Archaeology and Ethnology:

- PhD, Associate Professor Yaroslava Povelkova (the Czech Republic) delivered a course of lectures on anthropology;

- Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of History at Tomsk State University V.P. Zinovyev delivered a course of lectures on G.N. Potanin's Legacy As a Factor of Cooperation between the Kazakh and Russian Peoples;

- Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Modern National History at Tomsk State University S.F. Fominykh delivered a course of lectures on Siberian Regionalists and the First University in the Asian Part of Russia.

5) high results shown by students in their studies and research:

Students got a high average score in the external evaluation of educational achievements in 2013 - 118 points (2nd best result at PSU);

Undergraduate and postgraduate students actively participate in various scientific events: national and international scientific conferences, national and regional student competitions. Students majoring in 5В020300 History established the Higher School of History, which carries out research, educational and advisory activities.

7) Participation and implementation of funded research projects by the Department's academic staff:

- Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Director of the Joint Research Center for Archeological Studies named after A.Kh. Margulan, V.K. Merts supervises the project “Early Bronze Age on the Right Bank of Kazakhstan Irtysh: Ethno-Cultural Interaction” (implementation period: 2012-2014);

- Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan A.A. Akishev and Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan N.Ye. Kuzembayev participate in implementation of the project “Ethnopolitical Problems of the Former Soviet Union in the Context of the Study of the Sociopolitical Status of the Titular Ethnic Group in Independent Kazakhstan” (implementation period: 2012-2014).

- Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan A.A. Akishev won a state grant from the MES “Best HEI Lecturer” (2010);

- Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of History S.N. Mamytova won a state grant from the MES “Best HEI Lecturer” (2012).
