History of the Department
The Department of Russian Philology and Library Science was established in 2006 on the basis of the Department of Journalism and Library Science. On September 1, 2009, it was renamed to the Department of Russian Philology, as the speciality 050418 Library Science and Bibliography was transferred to the Department of Journalism.
The activity of the Department is aimed at educating specialists in the theory, history and methods of teaching the Russian and foreign literature, as well as the theory, history and methods of teaching the Russian language.
The Department works in close cooperation with the leading universities of Kazakhstan and Russia: L. N. Gumilev ENU, M. Kozybayev NKSU, M. Lomonosov MSU filial in Kazakhstan, F.M. Dostoyevskiy OmSU, Foreign Languages Institution (St. Petersburg, Russia).
The Head of the Department is Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor Gulvira Kimovna Shaikova.
